Mark Perrin
Plate Winner 2010
Congratulations to Brendan Murphy, he was crowned club champion 2010, defeating Tony Morrison 3/0 in the final on Sunday 7th February.

Brendan's route to the final was not plain sailing, he met a very motivated and clean hitting Riaad Daniels in the quarter finals who pushed hard for four tough games, succumbing in the fifth to Brendan's wily experience and fitness. Brendan met Roshan in the Semi-Finals and had to now contend with youth, speed and superb footwork from Roshan. He'd already upset the seedings by defeating Ewan Denny 3-2 in the quarters and was hunting for another scalp. The result was 3/1 which does not reflect the intense rallies and pressure placed on Brendan before progressing to the final.

Tony's route to the final saw two 3/1 victories against the nimble, fast legs of Anand Mistry followed by the steady skills of Mark Barsoum with his consistent lengths burying the ball repeatedly into the back court.

Brendan V Tony began with a closely fought first game before Brendan's younger legs carried him to victory.

The tournament was characterised by many close matches which showed the merits of the PAR (point-a-rally) scoring.

In the first round there were three more titanic struggles with Janusz Jezowicz just prevailing over Steve Brown, Paul Drinnan winning a narrow victory over John Saunders and Matt Morgan coming through against Roby Maker. Paul then went on to set the crowd wondering about the biggest upset of the day when he took a game off number three seed Mark Barsoum before Mark went on to win 3-1.

Mark Perrin narrowly lost out to Riadd in the first round of the tournament in what was certainly the loudest match of the day. Mark gained some consolation by going on to win the Plate, beating Ravi Grewal in the final.
